Production blog: Peoples Review
Having finished both the filming and edit process, the project as of now was finished and the final product was set. Although I had nothing else to change in the film, I still wanted to make sure the film looked good and understandable in the eyes of the audience. To do this, I showed the film to my family and friends. When showing them the film, I wanted their honest opinion as it would tell me how the film actually looks like in the eyes of some else without the directors vision. This would ultimately see if the plot and storyline was clear and if the film looked smooth.
I showed them the film twice, the first time without telling them anything about the film to see their raw reaction and then the second time telling them the pitch of the film. This was done to see the difference between the raw reaction and then the reaction after hearing the pitch. This would help me see if the pitch matched the film showed and if they could have made the connection or even created the plot before actually telling them. In hopes to see if the film matched the plot, the results were a success. After viewing film the viewers could connect the film to be apart of the horror genre and could see how the film represented the pitch.
Just like any other film, I knew that I was going to get some critiques and opinions on what should have been done differently. Although, they weren't harsh, I still listened to them very carefully to see if there was anything that was reoccurring between the audience. Luckily I didn't spot anything dramatically that would have affect the film. Even with the little things mention, the viewers told me not to worry about it as the film as a whole looked great. This made me happy as it was a sign that the story and how I portrayed it in the film made sense and went together.
Having people review the film and give me their honest opinion help me dramatically. This was because it showed me that my film made sense to the first time viewers and showed me that my work was done. Even though nothing needed to be changed, I am still going to review the film multiple times before it is due. Trying to make my film the best it can be I will try to fix the smallest mistakes to the point where it will not effect the film as a whole. Although i'm pretty sure none too little mistakes in the final product, I will spend this time checking it even though i'm happy with of the result are as of right now.
