Production blog: End Result
Although my project has changed from my original idea, I am still very excited and happy with the results at the end of the day. Having started this project all the way back in February 15, I have witness how many changes because of the steps I have faced. One of the biggest changes I came upon was the scenes selected for the film because of the time frame. Having only two minutes for the film, when editing I witness that when adding all my takes the film went up to 3 minutes and 30 seconds. To correct this, many of the scenes I had in the film either had to be cut or shortened sacrificing some of the dialogue when it comes to characters interacting and even taking away the plot twist. With some scenes having to be deleted to fit the two minute time frame, I still made sure that the film still had scenes and had an aspect of the killer trying to kill the main character. Although I made to take away many scenes, I still feel like I captured the story I was trying to convey and for that reason I am not mad at the end result. Having this being my first two minute film was actually very exiting even with the struggles I faced. The reason why I enjoyed having this was this project assigned was because of all the new filming and editing techniques I learned and used during the making of the final product. Being able to uses these new techniques not only helped me to become better but, also helped the film to become better. When learning these new techniques like adding text that fades in and out of the film for the credit, it took a while as I wanted to figure out how long it should be on the screen and where it should be. Once I figured this out, adding the rest of the credit was easy and looked smooth since it would fade in and out. Another part was that took some learning was adding the music/ sound effect. Although I have done projects before that involved music like the "Gatorade X Wilson" commercial and the "Don't You Worry Child" music video, having music in this project was different. One key different in music between this project and the other was that in the other two mentioned the music was played all throughout the film without stopping but, in this project the music could stop and start again later on. I wanted to know how to perfect this as music in the film would make an impact having it create suspense. I would later be able to learn this as in the project, the music would also fade in and out smoothly. At the end of the day, I felt that this project helped me learn more than ever before. Being able to use the things I learned made me happy because it meant that my film would become better. Having this being said, I am very happy and excited that my final product is complete and the making of my film is officially finished.
