Music Video Creative Critical Reflection

Image
As a part of this media project one of the major components was the use of conventions and how the music video used them. In this music video, the conventions used were different from normal conventions used in films since every music video is different from each other. This occurrence of having different conventions happens since every music video tells a different story. In my music video I uses conventions like settings and Mis-en-scene. I found it that these two conventions best fit my music video to tell my storyline and could also be found in other music videos. The reason that the music video uses settings and Mis-en-scene as the conventions is because both of them allow me to tell the passing of time in the story. In the story I was able to change locations to show a different time period in the character life, and I was able to show the character growing up in these different time periods with Mis-en-scene showing him wear clothing a child would wear to represent his youth to ...

Don't You Worry Child Music Video

Image
By writing this blog, it means that the music video of "Don't You Worry Child" is finally complete. Although this journey and process was very long, it was also a fun one that I would do again. With the time extension in this project allowing us to record 60 seconds rather than 30 seconds, it allowed me to be more creative and express what I truly wanted the music video to look like without a time restriction. Being able to have more time, it allowed me to do more in the film with the scenes. In this project I was able to add two locations instead of just one in the Commercial project, because I could explain what was happening in the two locations making sure that the storyline explained it. This was a big differenced because now it wouldn't look like the characters are jumping around locations but, rather having them in-sync with the story and the music video.   Although this was fun to film it also made me face many challenges. One of the biggest ones encountered ...

Enhancement in Filming and Editing

Image
Being that this project was the second official filming project I had, their definitely things I changed during and after I finished the project. Although I knew I was happy with the results, there was still for improvement and with the time I had left before the music video was truly due thats what I did. If I felt that a scene should be reshot or edited more thats what I did. By doing this, I would make my film look better as I improved the shots took and the smoothness of the film. I believe making these changes truly helped my film as developed the storyline. One of the main reasons why I decided to change a few scenes is because of how I felt with them. Looking over the film and being "ok" with a scene didn't fit right with me and thats why I decided to change it by redoing them to improve camera quality and camera angles to better fit the screen. One scene that was effected by this was the close-shot of the eyes as when filmed the camera was centered correctly, eith...

Editing the Music Video

Image
Moving on from filming the music video brought me right to editing the video. This step was very important to the outcome of the project as a whole as it could make or break the storyline I was trying to create. The reason why this step is important is because the editing of the music video can either make the video either smooth of choppy.  This will ultimately effect how the viewer would watch the music video and their understandment of the storyline. This is why I had to pay close attention to the parts of the take I was cutting out and the parts I was leaving in. The day of when I started editing all the takes was the next day after I filmed it, since I already started creating how the clips would look together after the edit I didn't want to forget it. Although I was about to get started editing all the takes, there were a few important steps required before hand to transfer the shot to an editing software. When beginning the editing process the first thing I had to do is impo...
