Editing the Music Video

Moving on from filming the music video brought me right to editing the video. This step was very important to the outcome of the project as a whole as it could make or break the storyline I was trying to create. The reason why this step is important is because the editing of the music video can either make the video either smooth of choppy.  This will ultimately effect how the viewer would watch the music video and their understandment of the storyline. This is why I had to pay close attention to the parts of the take I was cutting out and the parts I was leaving in.
The day of when I started editing all the takes was the next day after I filmed it, since I already started creating how the clips would look together after the edit I didn't want to forget it. Although I was about to get started editing all the takes, there were a few important steps required before hand to transfer the shot to an editing software. When beginning the editing process the first thing I had to do is import and export all the takes from my recording device to a computer as that would be the place the editing would happen. After the shots were on my computer, I dumped them on to iMovie which was the editing software I used to edit my films. Now that I finally completed all these necessary steps since it would allow me to be able to select, combine, and crop the takes I wanted, I could finally start working on the editing process.
Having some editing skills developed by obtaining them from previous projects like the commercial project, made editing this one a lot easier. Now knowing where to start, allowed for me not to waste time in see all the features I could add and what should go where. Another part that helped me in the editing process was the storyboard as I would just follow the scenes as that was the outline for the project which told the storyline. cropping the parts of the takes that I didn't want and lining it up with the following scene allowed it to look smooth but, when doing this I had to watch out for making sure that the video matched the song. Since a big part of this music video was the scenes capturing what the lyric of the song said, I had to make sure that the scene showed what the lyrics said. This took a while for me to get right, since some clips would either a little behind or ahead of the song which through the film off. When fixing this problem I found it easier to play the music video first and stop it at the part of the lyric that the shot showed, then dragging the scene to that mark in time. By doing this I was able to finally make the music video smooth ultimately finishing the editing process all together.
The last part I took to completely seal this project finished, was watch the music video multiple times. I watched the video until I knew that I was happy with the result and that everything look good and smooth. Finally being able to finish the editing process and the project as a whole, I was happy with how the music video ended out as it told the story how I wanted it to.
