Research blog: Music Video Conventions

     To learn more about how music videos should be record, I first had to research the conventions they had. This research was done either by watching other music videos or searching information online. Although I had to watch other music video to understand some conventions, it was important to mainly watch music video from the Swedish House Mafia. The reason why it was important was because as the creators of the song, they might have similar conventions in all their music videos that make them unique. While watching some conventions I noticed were slow motion, telling a story, and the youth. These conventions were scene in many Swedish House Mafia music videos. These conventions seen throughout their music videos it separates and distinguishes them from the rest.  Another major convention not only used in the groups music videos but, for everyone is the use of different camera angles. These camera angles in any music video are use to show a certain aspect being filmed. Some camera angles used in these music videos are close ups, eye level, or High angle. These angles help capture to beat and sound create by the music as a close up would be used in a long beat and eye level as well as high angles would be used when the beat increases speed. With camera angles being a big part of the conventions used, another aspect would be the people used. In these music videos they capture the meaning of youth either by showing heartbreaks, partying, or having fun with friends. When doing the research of conventions, the aspect of youth spoke out. The reason why it was a key part is because the lyrics talk about living life even through difficulties in growing up but, making sure that it is known that growing up should be fun and worth it.  All these conventions are what identify these type of music videos. When it comes down to filming I would have to make sure that I can portray, so that it can give the same mood the original video gives. Without these conventions, my music video would not be able to make sense as the lyrics would not go along with what the filming is showing. All conventions used will help build the main them of a young person living life through their ups and downs but, at the end being happy. I feel that if I want to make my music video seem legit, I would have to make something that Swedish House Mafia wants to represent and fully capture what a true music video truly is.

Production blog: non-filming day

As of right now, I have not started to film. The reason for not filming is because of the schedule created to make the making of the film run smoothing. Having just created the script, it would be to be rushed to start filming 2-3 days after. Filming this soon would not only leave the actors figuring out how they can perform a scene in the last minute but, also leave the acting in the film looking off or not the best. This can ultimately throw off the entire film as bad acting can make the film seem unfinished and off to the viewers making them not want to continue watching. Instead of leaving the film making rushed, I want to give the actors sometime with the script. Giving the actors time to read and take in the script will allow them to better understand the story and how they will portray it. Planning for the final task: location, health, schedule and more

  Schedule: 3/1/21- 3/2/21:   Actors will revive script and storyboard. This will give the actors time to take in the film and understand what they will do and prepare for their roles. During this time the actors will be able to ask any questions about the film and eliminate any confusion before filming. 3/3/21 All props and costumes will be gathered in order to prepare for filming to begin. This will help as it wouldn't leave me in a rush at the end to get the supplies I need while making sure that I have them without risking a store not having it in stock. 3/4/21- 3/22/21:   The first set of filming will take place. During this time I will record all takes of the scenes with different angles. This will then allow me to review what I like and didn't like in the following days. 3/23/21- 3/24/21:   The first part of editing will take place. Genre Research: Bird Box

 In the movie Bird Box we witness the beginning of a post-apocalyptic world. Following a mother and her two kid we notice that there is a creature that cannot be seen but kills if your eyes detect it. This leaves the human race hiding in their home, but when the mother hears of a place that people can survive without the worry of seeing the creature, she journeys to find it. Although they know where it is located, the challenge that the mother and kids are faced with is that they have to journey blindfolded. This presents many problems for the mother has they face many dangerous and loose many people but, she is determined to find this sanctuary.  What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?
