Filming the Music Video
This Project was filmed on November 27. Since we had more time for the project, technically having the whole week since I was on Thanksgiving Break we had a better chance to film without going to our backup plan. Before we started to film, I made sure I had everything needed to film like the props and clothing since they are key points in the music video and MISC-EN-SCENE. Once I had everything prepared, we went to the two locations for the day as the scenes would be filmed at. When we arrived to the locations we spend some time going through the scenes and see how the camera angles would look like since in the previous commercial project this was important, so I didn't have to take more shots with the 12 I needed. Now having more experience in filming from past projects like the commercial project, this time filming was a lot more easier. Some of the things I noticed this time that were different from last time was getting the shot was easier by having more scenes/shots because of the storyboard. Since this time I had 12 scenes, I was allowed to be more creative by having more options on what I wanted the scene to be. Instead just limited to 6 scenes with key shots I was now able to create a better storyline. This time storyline was more developed as the different angles told a different story for example, for example the close shots used allowed to show the importance of the scene and the impact it had on the character.
After taking a little bit to start filming, we finally started got to record the two different sets of shots needed as the first location would be the setting of the beginning and ending of the music video. Since this first location was at a house we made sure that the camera angles only captured what we wanted in this scene, so this went we had to move things about but besides that filming was easy. Mainly using shots that were close to mid depth help as the whole house wasn't being shown and allowed for the audience to pay attention to whats being shown without their eyes wondering. It wasn't until we got to the second location that it filming became a bit tricker. Since the second location was filmed at a lake, there was more things to worry about like other people in the frame. Trying to avoid other people in the frame meant that we had to be patient and wait for the lake to clear up. The reason why I wanted the lake to be clear is because the scene is suppose to be sentimental as it's a moment in the sons life where someone he cares for leaves him by himself. Waiting for a while was worth it since the shots just the way I wanted. One thing I had to make sure of was if I had happy with the takes I had and if I need to redo another scene. After reviewing the scenes I was pleased with what I had and the filming process was finished. All I had to for now was just get all the shots and export them to a computer to get the editing process ready, which would be the final part to finish the music video completely.
