Planning Storyboard for my Wilson X Gatorade Commercial
When Creating the storyboard for my Commercial I was stuck on what I wanted the drawing to be. One thing I wished I knew then that I know now that it makes it a lot easier beginning the the first and last slide. By doing this step it then allowed me to see what major parts I wanted to capture to better improve what my product(s) stood for. Once I figured out what I wanted the slides to be I then drew these scene in six different boxes to create the storyboard. The scenes I drew up are:
First Scene
In this scene I wanted to show the contrast, this meant that I had to show what other product gave the user and how bad it is. This is why for this scene I will have the athlete/basketball player lose control over the ball and not be able to dunk it. This would be shot in a wide shot to allow for the viewers to see all the movements the athlete takes as he practices and misses the rim.
Second Scene
This Scene would be filmed in a Mid-shot. This is because I want the athlete to be the main focus in the scene but, I still want to show the setting/his surrounding. In this scene the athlete will be sitting down on a bench being depressed and saddened that he practiced bad. By doing this I will add more to my product(s) as I make them seem like they advance your skills.
Third Scene
For the third scene, I will film it as a Close-shot. I want to film it this way because in this scene I will introduce my products and I want it make it known that they will to be the main focus of the commercial. This scene will help the viewers better understand what will take place in the next scenes as it will involve the main products. As it is still being film in the same location and scene from the last one while the athlete is sitting down, a Gatorade bottle and Wilson evolution ball and magically roll to the athlete feet.
Fourth Scene
For the fourth scene I would film it in a Mid-shot again. This would be still having the athlete be the main focus point while showing his surrounding. This will be the first time the character interacts with the product. He would drink the Gatorade which will give him energy and he will also dribble the ball as it would automatically give him more skills and control in basketball.
Fifth Scene
I would shoot this scene just like the first scene as it will still have the same angle and movement (Wide shot and track). As this shows the player feeling that he is becoming better with the products he would start to be able all the things he couldn't do in the beginning before he had the products. This scene will finish with the athlete gaining better skills and becoming better while going up for a dunk.
Sixth Scene
This would be the last seen but, instead of being filmed, this scene will start by cutting to black and showing the brands of the product. I choose it to end this way because I want the last thing the viewers look at to be something they remember. Leaving the brands at the end of the commercial will make the viewers remember the commercial by those brands and give the products a boost of advertisement.
