Planning Storyboard for my Music Video
In the past project of making a 30 second commercial I was faced with creating and drawing up a storyboard, this scenario is happening again as I make my Music video. Some of the differences which make up the challenge I face is that now being a 60 second long film, making the storyboard 12 scenes long unlike the previous 6. The challenge that is brought up for me is that now I needed to make up more scenes to be able to fill out all 12 and best capture the music. These are the scenes created that I feel will best fit the video and follow the lyrics.
First Scene:
In the opening of the music video a white scene/ title card will pop up, which will show the name of the song "Don't You Worry Child". This will allow for the viewers to know that the following music video song is called. This scene/slide will end by fading out, starting the next scene.
Second Scene:
This scene will following what the lyrics describe. In the music video the beginning of the song starts by saying "There was a time, I used to look into my father's eyes", so the scene would be an extreme close shot of someones eye. This would represent the eyes of the father showing that the son has a clear memory of his fathers eyes.
Third Scene:
The third scene will capture the second scene In a different angle, showing an eyesight view of the son looking at his dad. This scene will symbolize how the son view his father as greater than him, showing that the son views the father as the highest and a role model who he want to be.
Fourth Scene:
During this scene, it will follow the same action of what the song describes. In the following lyric the song mentions of a happier time when life was easy, so the scene will be during a time of the sons youth. In this scene a the camera will pan the room showing a moment of the son and his father playing with toys spread across the room.
Fifth Scene:
Once again, the shot will be what the lyrics of the song represent as it describe the passing of time showing that the good times are gone and that they're just "memories on the wall". In this scene a mid-shot will be filmed of a wall with two picture of the son and dad as one of the pictures and another of just the dad. This will show that the father is now passed away leaving the son just by himself.
Sixth Scene:
This shot will be a high angle of a lake. In the lyrics it mentions the scene where the son had his first heartbreak at a lake which was a big and depressing moment in the sons life. This location is important to the son as thats why it will be a scene.
Seventh Scene:
This scene will be the follow up of the pervious scene, being at the same location but showing the sons heartbreak. In this scene, a mid-shot will be filmed of the son getting broken up with by his girlfriend at the lake.
Eighth Scene:
This scene will show the aftermath of the son being broken up with, being at a low-point becoming depressed. The son will feel like everything is going wrong in his life as he just lost his father and his first love.
Ninth Scene:
This scene will be the final scene at the lake showing a wide-shot of the son not letting this situation hold him down. The son will put his heartbreak behind him and look for the better future as he takes back control, feeling confident and independent.
Tenth Scene:
This scene will show the son making big moves in his life, getting a job and making his own decisions in life being the one taking charge. This shot will be a close-shot of two hands shaking agreeing to a business deal
Eleventh Scene:
This Scene will be the final scene where the film will be showed. In this scene the shot will be a mid-shot showing the son and the dad at the same time. This will show the son becoming the person who he looked up the most to which was his father.
Twelve Scene:
